Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • All authors agree to adhere to the policies as outlines in the Policy section of this journal and will be held accountable accordingly.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found below. Download IEEEtran.cls, Bare_BIOMATH.tex, Bare_BIOMATH.pdf.

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted for publication as articles should contain original research not published or submitted for publication elsewhere (the journal makes use of Turnitin iThenticate to screen all submissions). In order to maintain the interdisciplinary nature of the journal the exposition should be accessible to researchers from disciplines other than the authors' own. Where there is a need technical details (technically involved mathematical proofs, technical descriptions of conducting experiments, data-sets, etc.) should be presented as an appendix or in a separate publication in a specialized journal. It is expected that whenever results published in BIOMATH are also published in specialized journals, e.g. as a part of a more technical paper, the publication in BIOMATH is cited. In the Introduction the authors are requested to clearly state the contribution their paper makes to knowledge as well as the significance of this contribution, e.g. in relation to open problems, facilitation of future research, etc.

All articles must be prepared in the prescribed style (IEEEtrans style modified for BIOMATH) in LaTeX. Styles and templates are available here. The bibliography can be in any style as long as the same style is applied uniformly and consistently to all references. When available, a DOI link should be provided. The respective web address should be placed on a new line at the end of the reference.

First submission requires only a PDF file of the manuscript for reviewing purposes. The source files will be requested upon acceptance of the manuscript for publication. Input files of the LaTeX source file like figures, pictures, tables, bibliography, etc., should be uploaded as a one zip file. In the first submission the authors are requested to suggest potential reviewers of the manuscript. Three to six names should be entered in the box "Comments for the Editor". Please note that the section editor is under no obligation to contact any of the referees suggested by the author. Nevertheless, making such suggestions can significantly speed up the reviewing process.

Research Communications

Papers within the scope of the journal of more methodological nature communicating open problems, new approaches with demonstrated potential, guidelines and/or protocols with proven or at least strongly indicated improved efficiency, which may involve new ideas, novel methods of theoretical analysis, novel use of existing or new software or datasets.
